Mission in Kenya
BackMission in Kenya
This can easily be called an exceptional assignment. Nevertheless, together with our client, we successfully implemented an upgrade in 130 products. For this unique mission, our colleagues Karl Prins and Allard Teeuwissen went to Kenya from 27 November to 9 December.
Preparations
In order to avoid any unpleasant surprises at the location, the entire trip was well prepared. We fully simulated the practical situation as it would be on location at Cimar Electronics. Everybody worked very hard to get all the necessary components ready and to have the right tools at hand. All these materials and tools were shipped in sealed boxes beforehand. After a long 20-hour journey, Karl and Allard, as well as the materials, had finally reached their destination: Nairobi.
The mission
The mission of this trip was to modify, calibrate, and test 130 advanced soil scanners. On location, we collaborated intensively with the client to complete this task as quickly and as soundly as possible. Every day, our colleagues were picked up from the hotel to implement new hardware and software in the scanners. This was done in one of the meeting rooms of the company. After the installation of the software and the calibration via a test application on a tablet, the product could be tested further. Within just shy of a fortnight, all products were up to date again. The result: a very satisfied client.
Safari
As being in Africa is, of course, a special experience, the trip also allowed time for some relaxation. Karl and Allard visited, for example, an elephant orphanage and they went on a safari in Nairobi National Park. They didn't spot all of the big five, but seeing several lionesses, zebras, giraffes, and the back of a rhino, was already a marvellous experience, of course. An experience to treasure!
